Moringa

There are so many supplements out on the market today. And every ad and testimonial makes each one sound like the miracle that you are looking for. And let’s face it, we are all looking for some magical shortcut to get healthy, lose weight, get in shape, etc.

My most recent experience with a supplement that I hadn’t really heard about until several months ago is Moringa. There are different brands and manufacturers. Moringa is touted as all natural from a plant in Africa that is game changing. It is advertised to control cortisol, lose weight, lower blood sugar levels, balance hormones including thyroid – and the list goes on and on.

I decided to give it a try. I bought from a reputable supplement company that is known for being all natural including the capsules their supplements are in. A company that I use for other supplements and trust for the quality of the product. What I’m trying to say here is I did my research – first on moringa and then on the company I was purchasing from.

I received the bottles of moringa. The dosage was 2 capsules a day taken with food. The first capsule was to be taken in the morning and the second in the afternoon.

I began taking the moringa and it did not take long for me to start noticing the effects. Unfortunately, they were not the effects I was hoping for. I became bloated, gassy, constipated, tired and just generally didn’t feel good. My reflux kicked into high gear even though it has been under control for about a year. My blood sugar levels were spiking up higher than I’d ever seen them. In the morning, I’m consistently around 90-100 for blood glucose levels. I saw spikes over 160.

Everything that was happening to me was the opposite of what was supposed to happen. After about 2 weeks, I stopped taking it and I’m happy to report that within a few days, everything returned to normal.

I also want to add that the day after I stopped taking the moringa, I had regularly scheduled blood work. And suddenly my TSH and AST were off, both of which have been perfectly normal all along. I see my doctor tomorrow and I will tell her all of this and suggest that we repeat the bloodwork in a few months to make sure everything is back to normal.

So, while there are thousands of testimonials on the Internet stating that moringa worked miracles for them, my own personal experience was very different. I won’t be purchasing it again as it had such a fast and profoundly bad effect on my system. While I can’t say what it would do for you, I do know that it is definitely not the right supplement for me.

I also want to add that the company I purchased the moringa from has a 60 day money back guarantee. I returned the unopened and opened bottles and they are refunding my money. And while I do have a Marketplace page where I will refer you to products that I like and use, I will not be putting up a link for the moringa that I used since it obviously did not work for me and I don’t want to recommend something that had such negative effects on my health. There are a few other books and products already on the Marketplace that you can check out now. And I will be adding more soon.

I am sharing this experience for information purposes only. I am not a medical professional. I am simply someone out here trying their hardest to maintain a healthy body while aging gracefully. I’d love to hear if any of you have tried moringa and had different experiences. Feel free to comment at the bottom of this post.
